Anacreon Ship Combat Efficiency Statistics

The following table is a chart showing every ship type's efficiency against every other ship type. For example, a group of Fighters attacking a group of HunterKillers has an efficiency rating of 15%. This percentage is how the computer determines how many ships of each group will be destroyed per engagement round, depending on the number of attackings ships. The percentages stay constant no matter how many ships are in either group, although the numbers may be rounded up or down, so the results may be off a ship or two. For this chart's purposes, we're assuming all the ships in the attacking group are of one type only, and all of the ships in the defending group are of one type only.

Here is a short example of how it works:

Say a fleet of 3000 Fighters meet up with a fleet of 800 Jumpships in space and engage each other. The Fighters have a rating of 8% versus the Jumpships, whereas the Jumpships have a rating of 150% against the Fighters. This translates into the following:

1st Round

The Fighter fleet has 3000 ships in it. Their rating versus Jumpships is 8%, so we take 8% of 3000, which is 240. This is the number of Jumpships the Fighter fleet destroys this round.

The Jumpship fleet has 800 ships in it. Their rating versus Fighters is 150%, so we take 150% of 800 (They haven't suffered the damage from the Fighters yet, as all combat occurs simultaneously), which is 1200. This is the number of Fighters the Jumpship fleet destroys this round.

So the Fighter fleet has 3000 ships - 1200 ships for a total of 1800 ships left at the end of this round. The Jumpship fleet has 800 ships - 240 ships for a total of 560 ships left at the end of this round.

2nd Round

The Fighter fleet has 1800 ships left, and 8% of 1800 is 144 ships, so they destroy 144 more Jumpships.

The Jumpship fleet has 560 ships left, and 150% of 560 is 840 ships, so they destroy 840 more Fighters.

The Fighters have 960 ships left (1800-840) and the Jumpships have 416 ships left (560-144).

3rd Round The Fighter fleet has 960 ships left, and 8% of 960 is 76.8, which we'll round up to 77 ships, so they destroy 77 more Jumpships.

The Jumpship fleet has 416 ships left, and 150% of 416 is 624 ships, so they destroy 624 more Fighters.

The Fighters have 336 ships left (960-624) and the Jumpships have 339 ships left (416-77).

4th (And Final) Round The Fighter fleet has 336 ships left, and 8% of 336 is 26.88, which we'll round up to 27 ships, so they destroy 27 more Jumpships.

The Jumpship fleet has 339 ships left, and 150% of 339 is 508.5, which we'll round up to 509 ships, so they destroy 509 more Fighters, or at least they would if there were that many left. As it is, they wipe out all the remaining Fighters.

The battle ends with the fleet of 3000 Fighters being completely destroyed, and the fleet of 800 Jumpships having suffered moderately heavy casualties leaving only 312 ships left (339-27).

Summary

This chart reveals some very interesting, and perhaps surprising things, such as the fact that JumpTransports do just as well against Fighters as Fighters do, while taking slightly less casualties then Fighters would. Also notice that HunterKillers only inflict half the casualties on a group of Transports that an equal number of Jumpships would, and only 1/3 as many casualties against a group of Fighters as an equal number of Jumpships would. There are many strategies, tactics, and answers to questions about how effective each ship is that've kept you wondering for a long time that can be deduced from these numbers, and in a pinch, with a calculator, or a quick head for figures, you can easily approximate any battle, as long as there is only one ship type per side. Also, I have the stats for all of the ships types versus defenses, and vice versa. The defenses include GDMs, Ion Cannons, Defense Sattelites, and LAMs.

Final Note
I actually had programmed these statistics into a BASIC program years back so that you could simply input one ship type and number of ships, and then other ship type and number of ships (Or defenses), and then let the computer do a round by round simulation of the battle until one of the sides was completely destroyed. However, this being an old version of BASIC that requires an old version of Command.com, etc, I'm going to reprogram it into C++, so look for the Anacreon Fleet Combat Simulator program soon!
